Traversing the lands of Skyrim, just like any old Nord.

Day Ten Cont’d: Boziik in Bleak Falls

Discovering Bleak Falls BarrowI continue on from the bandit-ridden tower after my fantastic display of bandit-ownage in the previous entry and arrive at Bleak Falls Barrow. As I’m climbing some stairs to reach the entrance I spot some more bandits hanging out at the top. I drop into crouch mode! They know that I’m here, but thankfully they don’t know where I am, even though I’m climbing right up the center of a wide, open staircase. My sneak skill increases by a point and soon enough they notice me and it’s into battle!

I’m getting better at this bandit thing. These guys seem pathetic compared to me. I don’t even have to try that hard! The first one drops like a fly. Then the second. Then the third. I’m barely even damaged. Someone needs to invest some time and some gold into training these bandits on how to be proper bandits. It was like fighting blind mudcrabs with their hands tied behind their back. Quite simple. I carry on up to the entrance of the Barrow, and I realise how grand this place is! I look up and I have to strain my neck to see the top. Boziik looks like an ant compared to the entrance. I open the giant door and enter Bleak Falls Barrow. (more…)

Day Six: Chasing Stags

Basically, this is a play-through of the PC game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but in a non-linear fashion. I am playing the game as if I was an average Nord, kind of like an NPC (Non Player Character) being thrown into the position of the Dragonborn, and I’m acting and reacting like a normal Nord would.

Yesterday marked the day of my first robbery, as I broke into Lod’s house in my underwear and stole a note for Dengeir and some gold for myself. I also aided in worsening the Jarl’s drinking problem, delivered some ashes to a priest and crafted a bucket load of potions. Successful? I think so!

Sitting at a table with Runil.I wake at 6:30 this morning. I head out of my room and sit at a table with Runil, the priest I delivered the ashes to yesterday. I make small talk with him, munch on a potato, then head over to Dengeir’s house to give him the letter. When I arrive, it appears that his door is locked, and so I sit on the bench outside and wait for an hour until he unlocks it. I head inside and hand him the note. He goes on about Lod making weapons for the imperials, then gives me 250 gold! Wow! That’s a lot of money! I could buy myself a house with this! Or maybe just a sword. (more…)

Day Two Cont’d: Take a Bow

In the rest of the mine I find some more iron ore, a couple more piles of mushrooms, and as I turn round a corner, another bandit! Where are all these bandits coming from? This one must be really good at hiding because I didn’t even notice him until he shouted “Hiyaaarrr!!!!” and attacked me. He was a piece of cake with my new shield though. I believe I’ve become an expert at this whole killing bandits thing. He barely got a chance to land a blow with my huge iron shield in the way. I drop him to the ground, gashed and bloodied, to discover he was carrying a key labelled Embershard Mine Key! Hopefully this opens up something valuable! He was also carrying a steel sword, which does a little bit more damage than my measly iron one, and so I take that and equip it.

Boziik kicks butt. (more…)

Day Two: Looting Mine Bandits

Basically, this is a play-through of the PC game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but in a non-linear fashion. I am playing the game as if I was an average Nord, kind of like an NPC (Non Player Character) being thrown into the position of the Dragonborn, and I’m acting and reacting like a normal Nord would.

Yesterday, I stumbled across a town called Riverwood, killed a couple of wolves, looted dead bandits and got severely irritated by a lutist. It was a successful day, all in all. Hopefully today will be just as successful.

Will he ever stop?I rise from my peaceful slumber at 5am. I head out of my room and, oh my… Sven is still playing his lute! I slept for a solid eight hours, at least! And he’s still going… What a weirdo. I say good morning to Orgnar and head over to his alchemy lab to mix some flowers. I manage to mix up six Resist Frost potions which I have no need for, as my Nord blood gives me a 50% resistance to frost, which is more than enough for me. I value each one at approximately 60 gold! So I get excited and head over to the Riverwood Trader. I nearly run there I’m so excited! But that would be breaking my own rules, so I walk.

Remembering that it’s still quite early (about 6am now) I decide not to bother Lucan at the Trader and head over to Alvor’s forge. I have my three wolf pelts from yesterday still in my pack, so I decide to convert them into three leather. I consider upgrading my three pieces of Hide armour, but each upgrade only increases the armour rating by 1 or 2 points, so I decide to save my leather to create a helmet and shield later on. I head over to the Trader and sell my potions to Lucan, which he only gives me 20 gold for!! What a cheapskate! First it’s the clothes, now it’s the potions! I growl at him, take my moolah and storm out! I’m sick of that guy, always ripping me off. But then again, I just made 120 gold! That’s quite a lot of money! This alchemy business could potentially pay off. Alchemy just seems kind of girly to me. I’d rather hunt wild animals, fight giants, and slay the undead! But right now, I’m hungry. So I head back to the Inn. (more…)

Day One: Flowers, Wolves and Lutists

I don't think he's dead...
Boziik, in his favourite sleeping position.

The time is 6:11 AM when Boziik Gein wakes up from his peaceful slumber on the shore in what appears to be a very awkward position. He slowly stands up, wavering in his groggy state.

He looks like he’s been severely mugged, wearing nothing but ripped, ragged trousers and his favourite pair of boots. He doesn’t even appear to have his shirt on him, nor can he find it nearby. The bottle of mead in his pack potentially offers an explanation as to why he woke up on the shore with half of his clothing and all of his possessions gone. Last night must have been crazy. He digs around in his pack and manages to find a single green apple and 16 gold pieces… (more…)
